Artist Poster

This project is one of my early works in Illustrator. It's part of an informative poster series I created in my "Introduction to graphics for Digital Media" class at the University of Houston.

I created this poster in my Graphics for Digital Media class. This class taught me the fundamentals of Illustrator, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Thanks to this course, I learned to create illustrations through Illustrator and to create edits using mask layers and overlays through Photoshop.

Process

For this project, I used Illustrator to stylize images I found of Tyler The Creator from his fashion catalogs. I used the blob tool in Illustrator to create the primary graphic of Tyler sitting on the ground wearing bright yellow flops and flame pattern pants. The rest of the graphics on the poster were outlined and sketched using the pencil tool in Illustrator and filled in with the blob tool. I used a physical Wacom tablet I had lying around in my office to use the pencil tool more proficiently in Illustrator.

Meaning

This project aimed to create a poster of a public figure and explain what kind of impact they've had in their industry/line of work. Tyler the Creator is in the music industry and has had an impactful wave in the music and fashion industry.
